Beach Life, central coast, Photography, Surf N PixelsThis lighthouse ties with the one in Point Arena for tallest on the West Coast at 115-ft. tall. I kept backing up further and further to get it all in the frame on a very windy day.
It was named for the Carrier Pigeon, which wrecked nearby in 1853 and prompted its construction. There’s a hostel on the park premises, located on Highway 1 in Pescadero.

After a sweltering drive to the coast — the car temperature gauge topped 110 degrees in the East Bay area — the marine layer was welcome indeed. These young surfers were riding whatever swells came their way.
