
I’ve lived in L.A. long enough to appreciate subtle seasonal changes in the weather. But I cannot get used to kids going back to school in August: LAUSD started this week and Beach Cities schools begin next week. Either way, it’s well before Labor Day, which I will always consider the unofficial end of summer, calendar designations notwithstanding.
I always enjoy your photos of South Bay. The School year and Summer Vacations and how parents have to plan around is always a problem. I think that now most parents are working and that vacation time should be split up with longer days for holidays to accommodate travel….
It does seem like longer mid-year vacations have spurred this change, but still strange for me to get used to. When I was on the East Coast, we had built-in snow days, but no need for that here…
