I took this shot of a surfer girl by the Hermosa pier in 2015. I absolutely love her confident stance against the backdrop of surf spray — to me (and maybe only me) it evokes Lynda Carter in Wonder Woman. I lightened it up a tad but kept shadow on her face.

I’ve lived in L.A. long enough to appreciate subtle seasonal changes in the weather. But I cannot get used to kids going back to school in August: LAUSD started this week and Beach Cities schools begin next week. Either way, it’s well before Labor Day, which I will always consider the unofficial end of summer, calendar designations notwithstanding.
