Was afraid they wouldn’t get it done in time for the fiesta this weekend, but the workers came through.

Greetings from Redondo on a bright blue day, where I avoided a run-in with a grizzled old pelican walking around the pier
Marveled at birds in flight
And all the fishermen casting their lines for treasures of the sea.
Look out for that pier!

It always makes me nervous when I see surfers riding waves near or underneath a pier, as several were doing in Manhattan Beach when I stopped by today.
I guess they know what they’re doing, but if not there were plenty of lifeguards ready to dive in at sign of aquatic misadventure.
Moms and dads were also watching over their young charges on another bright sunny day at the beach.
No high heel shoes on the pier!

There were many signs on the Seal Beach pier but this was probably my favorite, due to the broad scope of prohibitions.
